The longest surviving cinema in the UK and an icon of Brighton’s heritage, enjoy a guided morning tour of the historic Duke of York’s Picturehouse.

While being shown around the Grade II-listed building, including behind-the-scenes in the projection booth, you’ll learn about the history of the cinema dating back even before it opened in 1910, and the remarkable personal stories of characters from over 114 years that truly make it one of Brighton’s most beloved landmarks. 

All attendees will also receive a free Duke of York’s postcard!

FAQ

  • The first part of the tour takes place outside in front of the cinema and will also involve walking down the side of the building.
  • The doors to the cinema will be open 10 minutes before the advertised start time for ticket holders to use the facilities if needed.
  • The tour will be between 75 - 90 minutes long. There is an opportunity for the group to sit down about halfway through whilst we visit the auditorium.
  • Audience questions are encouraged and taking photos is allowed.
  • Due to the nature of the building, some areas of the tour (such as the projection booth) are only accessible by staircase, and some may find the steps slightly steep.
  • Spaces on each tour will be limited to 15 people. Pre-booking is essential.
